Hi Rosebud,Thu Apr 09, 2009 09:03 AM I'm from Indonesia, where do you come from?do you apply as a self-financed student or QUOTA scholarship applicant? I've contacted the Norwegian Embassy at my country, and they informed me that the process for visa is dependent to the official admission letter from the University. so there is nothing to do at the moment?just wait for the mail from the university? |

Thanks Fri Apr 10, 2009 09:48 AM With the reference of the AD email, the housing in Oslo will cost about 1k-3k Norwegian kronas, and my friends say that 2k per month will cover your meals well there. Don't worry, it'll be fine. After all, it is much cheaper comparing the expense in U.S. [Edited by Rosebud on 11 Apr 2009] |

Thu Apr 23, 2009 09:27 AM Anyone else? Looking forward to know you all. Hi Rose, I am from India and planning to apply for next year to Univ of Oslo. I want to know what factors are critical to get the funding and what is the usual monthly expenses (for both single and for two). And also if my wife joins me whether she can do part time jobs (legally) off campus. Thanks a lot for your time and effort. Regards, John |

Hello, I also recieved and admission nominations, does this mean we were accepted?.Fri Apr 24, 2009 05:04 PM Regarding the expenses in norway is around 1300 per month, but that is students expences i have no idea if it is the same for a family, they say per year should be around 85000 koroners, pero person. I think it would be better to ask the embassy what would be the expenses for a family, about the scholarships, in the universities page there is always a section about this, you can go there. They have scholarship for certain countries. Hope this helps |

Hi John, I'm sorry to fail to tell you the living expense in Norway because I haven't arrived there. And I think mayleth's suggestion is quite feasible.Sun Apr 26, 2009 03:45 PM However, I can talk about something weighs heavily in the application. First of all, you need confirm that if your university is on the list of the cooperation college of UIO in your country--Quota Scheme only opens to the students of those universities. Second of all, your academic background or professional experience match the specialization of the Quota program. Last but not least, you will come back to service your country after you finished your study at UIO. I hope that would helps. Good luck! Anyone else? Looking forward to know you all. |

Yesterday I received an email from the university, saying that those who received the nomination are 98% admitted to the program, why not 100%?because they are still checking the document formalities. The formal admission will be sent out by the International Office.Tue Apr 28, 2009 09:41 AM Receiving a nomination letter means that you have been chosen by the Faculty of Law and they are very satisfied with your application. I received this information from Bente Lindberg Krabbol. She also inform me that only those who has a very satisfactory application would received the nomination. (congratulations to you guys). Hello, I also recieved and admission nominations, does this mean we were accepted?. |

Admission at Universitet in Oslo
Hi,silverfern...Sun May 31, 2009 04:43 AM Probably I could share some of my experience, and I hope it helps... This year when I apply to UiO,my priority was LLm in PIL and the second option was LLm in ICT. The reason why I choose PIL as my first choice mainly because I wanted to work at UN and I believe UiO is a great place to earn my LLm. Just a couple of weeks ago,the university contacted me and offered admission for ICT Law,i asked them about their reason and they said that my qualification suits well for ICT law,I am qualified for PIL Law but it would be better for me to be admitted at ICT law. What i'm trying to say is even if you apply for PIL law doesn't mean you'll be admitted directly for PIL,if you fit in ICT or Maritime law, probably they would offer you admission to other programs than PIL. I am applying as a self finance student and the preparation is quite a hard work especially for the financial matters, I've contacted the International student advisor regarding amount of financial matters and He said for the first year I need to deposit 85000 NOK and on July next year another 42500 NOK. Hope this helps... |

Hi Mon Jun 08, 2009 10:09 AM Sorry for the late reply... thank you so much for that information. Thats v interesting they did that, offer you the admission for ICT I mean! Congrats on getting admitted. May I ask what sort of information and documents they require for your application? It's just that I am leaving my home country for an overseas trip and am not sure when I'll be back, so am doing a bit of guessing regarding what docs I should take with me/ensure I have should I have to apply overseas... Also, any other info you are willing to share about the application process and forms would be great :) Thank you so much :) |

Hi Sun Jun 14, 2009 09:46 PM Could someone please tell me whether having your licence to practice law, or your admission to the Bar (whatever your country of origin calls it) helps in your application for a LLM? Or whether UiO will preference to applicants who have done their admission to the Bar/admission to practice law? I would really appreciate it if someone could help me here... Thanks :) |

Thank you both for replying! Fri Jun 19, 2009 01:29 AM I don't think I will sit my admission before I apply... it was a tough decision but think I've made up my mind. I also emailed the Law Faculty and asked if they prioritised applicants with Admission and they said "no" they do not.. which sort of put the cherry on my deicison... |
