I have also been admitted and I am seriously considering starting there in the fall? I have also been accepted to ILF so I am trying to make a decision. Any thoughts on finding an apartment (not dorm) in Hamburg? All of the apartment sites listed in the handbook are all in German.

Hi, i am really thinking about Bucerius to continue my education there. I ve alreay got an offer, but still waiting for the scholarship.
Concerning dorms! my friend once visted Bucerius, and she said that the main advant. of dorms - is that it is near to University! However, when thinking about 1 bathr. for 4 persons - i want to rent a house. is there is anyone want to join?
see u all

I am also awaiting the scholarship awards and is currently looking for an apt./house. Spoke with an alum. who said that the dorm bathroom and kitchen situation leaves much to be desired. Also the apt. prices she gave me are not very much more than the dorms anyway.

So it might be a good decision to rent an apt/house!
they provided some links for the agencies - i ve looked through some of them, but not as properly. I will look one more time ( i speak german, and i was once in Hamburg) - and then contact you.
And i was nervous that i still did not get scholarship (cvause i have to apply for visa before 2 month) - but now i see that they do it slow.

Hi Everybody,
I have also been admitted to MLB program 2009-2010. Did anybody get any scholarship results?
I am thinking to take German courses prior starting my studies at MLB program. I have figured that they provide good deals on intensive german language courses, thus thinking to arrive in Hamburg early in August.
Is anybody else interested in taking German classes?

Best regards,
Almaz

Hey Almina77, Definitely let me know what you find out. I just wish that they would let us know about the scholarship awards soon. We have to respond to acceptance offers pretty soon and I would like to know how much aid that I can receive from them. BTW, where are you from?

I'm so jealous of you guys, I was at Bucerius on their international programme nearly 3 years ago now and wanted to go back for the MLB but with the current exchange rate it is just far too expensive for me. Hamburg is an amazing city though and Bucerius and everyone there is lovely. Take every opportunity you get and just make the most of it!

Hi, as a former Bucerius exchange student, I got to echo your sentiment. Love the school, love the city. Bucerius has absolutely wonderful facilities, including a 24 hour library to study in. Also loved the life in Hamburg, especially the rock concerts at the Fischmarkt. The city had killer jazz bars too and an interesting nightlife.

I am attending the Bucerius MLB in 2009-2010. There is a Facebook group called Bucerius/WHU MLB Class of 2010 if you are attending and want to talk to people in the program.

I did the international program too and I love the school and Hamburg.

How large is the MLB programme? Are the students mostly German?

I think it is usually under 50 people in the class, at least the class of 2009 was.

Professor Markus Rudolf, academic director of the MLB, about placement prospects:

...the basic concept is that there are a lot of issues in the economy and the business world where you need expertise in both fields - business and law. Think about the regulation and the problems we are having because of the financial crisis. This has to do a lot with regulation of the banking sector, of mergers and acquisitions, and in those kinds of transactions, there are always business people involved as well as lawyers.

Our feeling is that legal people don’t understand very much about business, and business people don’t understand very much about law. This program allows them both the business people and lawyers to understand the other side better, to have added value. We also offer lectures on the same topic from two perspectives. We encourage our law and business professors to interact with each other, and basically to have connections between the courses so that the students become aware of the different views - the business and the law.

Is this something that employers were demanding?

Well, we’ve already had two classes that have graduated, and all of those students have been quite successfully placed in law firms, industrial firms, and banks. One integral part of the program is an internship. It was not too complicated, even though the program was brand new and nobody knew about it to place them for those six weeks in those companies as well as the law firms. There is obviously demand for our graduates, and that shows that our concept seems to be interesting to the business world.
