Guys,
I have been admitted last year, got the message end of march. I have requested a deferral, it was granted and recently I got a notification that I am required to submit the Statement of Intent to Register until Feb. 16. Thus, I guess that UCLA won't inform anyone before this date, since they first need to know how many people definetly will attend.
Keep patient and good luck to everyone - looking forward to meeting the lucky ones in about 6 months!

Congratulations, Milinio!!!
Wish you a very interesting and entertaining year at UCLA!

May I ask you about the deferral? What reasons did you presented to the committee for the necessity of the deferral? Was the process of the deferral granting hard or easy? May be it was just an exchange of emails or smth worse?

Sorry for this interrogation :). I think I'm facing one-year deferral myself (once I'm admitted)))) so your experience would be really helpful to me!

Greetings - quick question, do you receive any scholarship or financial aid from UCLA?

Have you applied USC and UC-Berkeley?

Thanks
maurice

i have read the board - can't tell whether this is happening or not.

My experience dealing with UCLA in the entire application process has been nothing but perfect - the administrative staff (including the Director) can't be more helpful or friendly. However, I am not sure if the academic side is totally different. If you are really concerned, you could always right to UCLA and ask about their class cancellation/selection policy.

If JD students are taking the classes as well then i would think the enrolment numbers wouldnt be too low to warrant cancellation. Furthermore, it wouldnt be that bad given the JD program (which LLM students are selecting courses from) is regulated by ABA.

I could be wrong but complains against UCLA appear to be the exception rather than the norm!

cheers,
G

I graduated from UCLA's JD program in 2007. I am a domestic student.

I loved UCLA. I took mostly business and tax law classes. I never heard of classes being cancelled, but I know that certain classes can fill up quickly. I don't know enough about LLM enrollment to say for sure what it is like. Because it is only a year program, I would think LLMs would have a priority enrollment pass.

I do know from personal experience that the people in the registrar's office and the people in charge of class scheduling - Sean Pine, Liz Cheadle, Edna Sasis, etc are awesome. They are kind, fair, friendly. I am probably closer to them than with professors who wrote letters of reccommendation for me.

I am sorry about your rejection.

Would you mind telling me when did you submit your application and where are you from?

Thank you!

Mauricel,

I am sorry about your rejection. USC is equally good, though.

Would you mind telling me where you are from and when did you submit your application?

Thanks!!!

I'm from Hong Kong, and submitted my application on end of October, received "application complete" email on 14 Nov 2008.

BTW i was quite surprised that Ferero was rejected given his excellent credentials:

Thank you for your answer. Would you mind sharing your credentials so I can go on speculating on what my decision would be...?!

Dear Scenery,

Great to hear that we have many Thai guys in this board.
As for your query about my plan for another LL.M., I will only study for one LL.M. since I plan to come back to work with my current law firm not to be a judge or a public prosecutor. And My Toefl scores are not good.

In my opinion, it is a great chance to obtain two LL.M. since I am sure that if you have a excellent educational background, you will be accepted into a top five law school for you second LL.M. Additionally, I think with your profile concerning educational background, you will receive an offer(s) in this year.

Could I ask you what law school you applied this year?

P.S. I graduated from Chulalongkorn University.

Good luck and wish to see you in the states.

I was accepted a couple of hours ago!!!

One part of the admission mail sound very interesting:

"You will also have access to exciting professional opportunities. UCLA is the proud host of the West Coast International LL.M. Job Fair. This event brings together employers specifically interested in hiring LL.M. graduates. Like students at other top-tier schools, our students are invited to the annual NYU job fair. Our newer fair, however, focuses on the West Coast specifically, and is an important addition to the LL.M. job market."

However, I am waiting for Yale, my Dream School, but UCLA is among the finest law school, and it would be great to study at California!!!

BTW, I am from Asia.

Does any one from China has been admitted? Not sure whether UCLA reviews the applications by country.
