cambridge - October -March??
Tue Mar 24, 2009 01:58 PM Yes. I emailed the faculty asking for my status. Plus, the reply contained the "your college may not be your first choice college". My choices are Balliol and University College. I believe i will get one of them. |

Tue Mar 24, 2009 01:59 PM Yes. I emailed the faculty asking for my status. Plus, the reply contained the "your college may not be your first choice college". I had to smile at this. I would find this most amusing if someone from admissions wrote an April fools email in this vain. |

I didn't get a place at Oxford. Congrats to everyone who did! That means I'm off to Cambridge, but I will be deferring for the year so I hope you all have a fantastic time at your respective universities and enjoy being in England! Tue Mar 24, 2009 03:00 PM BIG SUZE |

To all of you who have gotten an offer from Oxford, many congrats!Tue Mar 24, 2009 03:21 PM Big Suze, if you will be deferring your offer this year, it will mean that you'll have another shot at Oxford next year. All the best! |

To e-mail or not to e-mail?
Tue Mar 24, 2009 03:32 PM
I'm still caught up in the "to e-mail or not to e-mail" Ms. Malloy for an answer dilemma . I'm afraid of jinxing it!! I think I'll wait till friday. I got an offer from LSE so Im not as stressed out as I was a few days ago, but Oxford is still my first choice....... |

Big Suze, sorry to hear that. Did you email Oxford to find out? Tue Mar 24, 2009 05:17 PM There's nothing like a Cambridge offer to sweeten any disappointment on the Oxford front. How come you are deferring for the year? |

Big Suze,Tue Mar 24, 2009 05:43 PM I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get into Oxford, but congrats on getting into Cambridge. I have gotten into Cambridge, too, and I'm also thinking about deferring for a year. To those who have been either rejected or accepted to Oxford, did you e-mail the faculty to get confirmation, or have you received a letter? Many thanks, The Prof |

To e-mail or not to e-mail?
I emailed Oxford...and received my 'rejection' within the hour.Tue Mar 24, 2009 06:49 PM I am deferring for a number of reasons - 1) I'm doing a four-year LLB because I was on the erasmus exchange programme in France last year...and so for my sanity, I need a rest from studying for a while; 2) I am poor and need to now earn the money to pay for the LLM - I've got an interview for the Law Commission in April :-S ; 3) My boyfriend still has one year left on the LLB and we don't want to live apart. So deferring means we can both move to Cambridge. So there you have it...! |

I e-mailed Ms Biese and received my rejection after a few hours. Didn't apply to any other programme - I decided to start a bar training ("just" 3 years:) and possibly PhD in my country.Tue Mar 24, 2009 08:13 PM Congrats for all those who are in! PS. I e-mailed Ms Malloy too (no response since Monday). Some of you were asking for e-mail addresses of Ox staff - there's some search engine at the university's website... Thanks for the info, Ladies and Gents. It's good to know that I'm not the only one without a response and that Oxford are not just e-mailing applicants who have been accepted. That puts my mind at ease. Now I'm just going to wait for the letter. I'm a UK applicant so I don't think it will be long.Tue Mar 24, 2009 09:16 PM All the best. The Prof |

To e-mail or not to e-mail?
There seems currently this thread focusing only on Oxford adimission. Does it mean that Cam offer is over? Wed Mar 25, 2009 01:26 AM I've not heard anything from Cambridge yet, though Ms.Wade required me to send her my latest transcript on Feb. I emailed to her twice but no response. Anyone in the same boat? |

Hey,Wed Mar 25, 2009 08:57 AM I got an email from Ms. Wade too - regarding my references - they had not receieved them - even though I sent them in october.........my file was only forwarded to the committee on friday. So I guess there may still be a couple of weeks to wait for decision. |

Ah, commiserations to all those who have received rejections- since Cambridge haven't really released rejections yet, or don't, this is the firstbad news period the thread has had and it is lasting far too long!Wed Mar 25, 2009 10:05 AM Congratulations to anyone who has had good news, and to the lady or gent who expects a place at first or second choice college, I wouldn't hold your breath. More often than not, students get placed in colleges that weren't on their selection- grad colleges, modern colleges etc- and I'd imagine this would be particularly true when they feature in one of the last courses to send papers through to college selection. I'm not saying it wont happen, but it is a longshot when you pick two colleges which are bound to be oversubscribed. Jags, I've held out this far. I am hoping for something through the post today but I have to say, on the evidence of so far, I wouldn't be surprised if these letters haven't even gone out yet! lol. Fingers crossed! |

Fingers crossed! My thoughts entirely. If letters were being sent out Mon and Tues I would expect at least a clutch of UK applicants to have received their letters by now. Somehow I suspect similarly- they haven't even been dispatched yet. Not one person has reported having received a letter in the post yet, and many people in the UK will have had their post come already today. |

hi everyone. i have been a regular reader of the post, though i havent posted much. i have been admitted to oxford. i had called the law faculty yday. they asked me- my full name, date of birth, email address. they emailed me my decision in fifteen minutes. i had no extenuating circumstances, no scholarship deadlines to meet. was just curious.
