Yeah, the uncertainty sucks. One could get something tomorrow or in 2 months..

I agree. This is nerve-racking. IŽll let you know whether white or black smoke goes up my chimney. Like a band-aid, I rather rip it off right away than wait until March to know.

I called up Cambridge to get an update on the status and the lady said that the application is still under consideration and it will take a couple of weeks to decide on my application.

That comes down to the beginning of March. Looking at last year's forum posts, March seems to be the month in which the majority of offers see the light of day.

Good? How come? Is it not that they consider applications in order of receipt or is it all in one go? Because the lady said that it will take couple of weeks because there are many more applications to be processed. And then Jags said that they have next meeting in mid Feb. I think I am getting confused with the selection process.

People, do you know whether the M.Jur. admissions are less competitive than the B.CL?

I applied for M.Jur too and my impression is that the B.CL is even more competitive because there is more interest in it. I don't have any evidence for it but it's just a feeling.
But anyway, I think that the number of places for both B.CL and M.Jur are calculated together (example: 200 places in total: i.e. for B.CL and M.Jur) so basically you are somewhat competing with B.CL applicants too as Ox might decide to grant less B.CL places in favor of M.Jur students or vice versa.

Again, no evidence for this and feel free to overrule me on this :)

What you say is pretty logical. But I consider they may be equally competitive as Oxford should make more BCL spots available.
These are difficult times. The wait is awful.
By the way, does oxford have an online tracker? I guess someone confirmed they have not, but just in case...

They dont have any tracker at Oxford.
Plus, the process is quite opaque or at least it isnt as transparent as Cambridge's admission process. The latter has a clearly laid plan of action and one can know when the committees meet. So, it gives a better and realistic idea of how the things work. Oxford has written only a single line as to how they treat the applications. So, though one knows the requirements more clearly at Oxford, there is a lot of room for improvement as far as transparency is concerned.

A question I've had for a long time: how do you guys know all that stuff about when committees meet, when they decide, how long it takes before their decisions are published,..
Don't get me wrong: it's great that at least some people can keep all of us informed about what's going on ! :)

It's an inside source. He's agreed to a secret book-making pact. haha

They have a LLM handbook available on the Cambridge website, which shows the dates and all. As for how long it takes and why, there was a person called "Irishguy" who read either at Oxford or Cambridge, and it was his post that introduced the intricacies of how and when. You can read his posts from archives on this site.

Haha, I see. There is a spy working for you :) If you don't get in now, I don't know what else you could have done ! :)
Regarding the handbook: I can't seem to open it as it is restricted to authorised users. Is this it or did I use the wrong one? Can you give me the link?

thanks

I am a bit worried, because I didn't get anything. my application might as well ended up lost through the post :)
