University of Reading Plans Another LL.M. Study Trip to Geneva
Last year's trip included visits to WTO, UN, ICRC, OHCHR, and European CommissionAug 10, 2009
The School of Law at the University of Reading will again be offering a three- or four-day study trip to Geneva to visit several international organizations and meet with their staff. The trip usually takes place in March. The organizations visited on the last trip included the European Commission Delegation, the United Nations, the UK Mission, the World Trade Organisation (WTO), the Advisory Centre on WTO Law, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the Global Humanitarian Forum, the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), and the development think-tank IQ Sensato.
The study trip is open to students on all postgraduate programs, though it expected that preference will be given to those on the LL.M. International Law & World Order program and to students who are studying modules with an international focus. The trip is heavily subsidized by the law school. In 2008-09 students had to contribute £80 and we expect it will be about the same again this year. This will cover travel, accommodation, and some meals.
